Fanfiction: Wonder Woman

 

When I was 8 years old, I discovered comic books, and then I found Wonder Woman. I had already started to read Greek myths, so when I learned that this heroine was born on Paradise Island, a place where the immortal Amazons lived, and she worshipped the Greek gods, I knew I'd found my favorite superhero. Mystified by her bracelets, lasso of truth, and tiara, plus her birth story (her mother, Hippolyte, sculpted her from clay, she was brought to life by the gods, and she grew up around her Amazon sisters), I read every single comic I could find with her in it. Her stories, attributes, and preservation of love, compassion, and strength through love struck a chord with me, one that has continued to resonate with me into adulthood.

 

To honor her, I have written some stories that I feel touch upon the type of heroine I believe she is. That being said, I do not ascribe to her "Nu52" character.

 

1. Diana's Return — A short tale of  her return to Man's World after having been gone since World War II.

2. Truth — Diana learns just how the Amazons have managed to inhabit Paradise Island all these years.

3. Diana's Birth — My take on how Wonder Woman came into the world.

4. That Which Binds, That Which Reveals — My version of how the lasso came into being.
